Atlanta's Traditional Okinawan Karate-do Dojo
A Martial Arts Marketing Success Story
Moeller Sensei had an old website running an outdated version of WordPress. It was vulnerable to modern hacks, and it was difficult to navigate on mobile devices.
He came to us for help. So, we redesigned his website, modernized the front end, and replaced WordPress with our in-house Content Management System that was built from the ground up with two main purposes in mind: to render websites at blazing speed, and to make it easy for anyone to update their content.
Afterward, Moeller Sensei sent us a note. Please see below!
Don, Nick, and Dan,
Thanks so much for the great work redoing our website, atlantakarateschool.com. It was truly a pleasure working with all of you, and I wanted to take a minute to tell you how pleased I was with the entire process.
When we started working on the website revisions, I appreciated the way you continually sought my input on the design and overall layout for the website. You wanted to make sure the website was designed the way I wanted it to look. Instead of just forcing your ideas on me, you asked me for examples of websites (and parts of other websites) that I liked to make sure that the design was consistent with my vision for the dojo. As it turned out, I did not have a lot of specific ideas for how the website should look, so I am grateful that I was able to rely on your design expertise. Still, at every step, you contacted me to make sure that your ideas matched my vision for my dojo.
The fact that you are all accomplished martial artists, with decades of experience in multiple martial arts, was a major advantage. You understand traditional Budo. You have also trained in many different schools with different instructors. These experiences enabled you to create a website that captured the spirit of my dojo.
You also modernized my website to make it more attractive to today’s students and created a platform that is much easier to read on smartphones and other mobile devices. As a traditional martial artist, I wanted a website that was consistent with our core values and guiding principles. On the other hand, the primary reason for revising our website was to help attract new students. Your design was the perfect balance between marketing and maintaining a traditional look and feel to the website.
I also appreciate the patience you showed with the multiple modifications that I requested once the initial website design was completed. I never felt rushed to make a decision, and you were always willing to make changes until I was completely satisfied with the website. Even after the website was “done” and your bill had been paid, you were extremely responsive when I requested additional changes and quickly added new material to the website.
I am extremely satisfied with the work you did and give you my highest recommendation. Please feel free to share this with any of your prospective clients.
